The symptoms of a disease, for example pain, fever, color of urine and other disfunctions, are expressions of an internal problem, signs of disturbances in the mechanisms and processes of the body.

The Impact of Nutrition on Skin Health

Certain skin conditions, such as eczema and dermatitis herpetiformis, and food allergies are directly linked to diet. Previously it was thought that food had no connection with acne, but rather was about hygiene. This may be true, but recent studies have shown that acne is also related to dairy and to food with a high glycemic index. Another example is skin sagging. This is associated with a diet high in sugar, which causes changes in the collagen and elastic fibers of the skin.

Dietary interventions and changes may influence the course of skin disease, skin cancer and skin aging and reduce other health risks.

1. Reduce Dairy Product Intake

Research has shown that dairy, which is high in fat and high in growth hormones, and food with low-quality carbohydrate and a high glycemic load can cause acne and, more seriously, non-communicable diseases. Decreasing or eliminating such food from our diet should decrease or eliminate the occurrence of acne and NCDs, while increasing one’s intake of fruit and vegetables rich in antioxidants, polyphenols, vitamins and minerals can protect health, prevent disease and reduce risks.

2. Choose Whole Foods

Note, however, that eating whole foods rich in phytochemicals, vitamins and minerals is more promising than supplementation because of the synergistic or additive effects of different constituents of the food.

3. Proper Food Preparation

Food preparation is also important. Grilling, frying and roasting affect nutrition, which in turn affects the ability of our body to repair itself and prevent negative outcomes.

Food quality does matter. Nutrition counts in beauty and in health.

Self-care

My first experience of a facial cleanse was in a small spa situated in Trancoville in Baguio City. My sisters took me there for a beauty experience. My mom said it was nice to treat yourself occasionally. The lady was kind enough to clean my face of white and black heads. The treatment caused discomfort, but afterwards, my face felt nice. I felt good. I don’t know if it improved my looks but the feeling of being clean was good enough.

Eat well for a younger you and a younger look! Don’t forget to treat yourself once in a while at ME Zone for an extra sparkle in your eyes, glowing skin and a spring in your step.
